I absolutely loved it here. Its defiantly what I would describe as train lover heaven. So many historic locomotives and an amazing collection of artifacts that I could have spent hours wandering round. This is a must visit place if you are york great for train lovers families or people just looking for an intresting day out. It's also free but you can donate if you want to.

This place is very interesting it's also free but they like you to give a donation, unfortunately the little train that runs from the centre to the museum wasn't working on the day I went, but nevermind.

Really cool place for a visit even if your not a super fan of trains. I was struck with some of the older trains. Absolutely massive! If you have a bit of time before you need to catch a train why not head down and have a look.

Awesome engines and so well maintained. Only drawback is you can't climb in them so we admired rather than became immersed

Excellent museum, which is growing continuously. It is free to enter, although a donation is welcomed. It is a bit of a 'work in progress', but when finished, it should be an extremely interesting place to visit. We loved it.

A beautiful museum full of history of the trains. They have toilets at the entrance and downstairs next to the cafe and down to the library. The entrance is free you don't need to book in advance. The car park is 10£ all day. You can leave your car and walk to the city centre which is not far. I reccomand.

Brilliant and informative for interested people, especially children although the available food and drinks are rather expensive so it would be better to bring your own.

Wonderlab is the best museum I've taken my toddler too!
Me and him both had grins from ear to ear the 3-4 hours we spent in it.
Also there's loads of cool old trains! What's not to love.
Cafe isn't great, mainly lots of premade sandwiches so bring a picnic.

Excellent very accessible for my daughter when she needs her wheelchair and she absolutely loves this place the food isn't particularly great but we usually go somewhere after our visit so isn't a problem, lots to see. The place has always been clean and tidy when we've visited and staff have always been friendly and welcoming.

Having gone in with cases found lockers to store them but had no £2 coins, asked a staff member on the desk and she said there was a cage to put them in, but never said where it was so left cases in lockers with one friend standing guard while we went to find said cage, no luck, came back and our friend had to go to the loo, when she got back cases had gone!! Asked the same staff member and she said they had been removed as we didn't pay, but as we pointed out we had not got the correct change and had gone to find help, security had cases, we paid by card to retrieve them, (why didn't she say that) security was most rude and said the said staff member has change!!! Needless to say we will never return after being treated so awfully, jobsworth springs to mind!!!

On a visit to York, we went to the railway museum. We found it really interesting and marvelled at the size of the engines. Great to see the Mallard and the Pullman carriage. It was interesting to see all the items used on various trains. There is plenty to see and could spend all day looking and learning about everything. Well worth a visit but give yourself lots of time.

Admission was free, showing a rich history of British railway. Good place for an educational tour for schools . The place was clean and well organised.
